Fashion Illustration - Celebration of Style

I began working on fashion illustrations quite unexpectedly, having come to the realisation what I was producing was a way of expressing and capturing different styles and moments in fashion throughout history. My approach to fashion illustrations is similar to my other artwork given how much I love mixed media. For my illustrations I predominantly make use of ink which I believe is perfect for conveying the type of style, movement and feeling I want.

Through my illustrations I want to express a wave of emotions that are timeless and confronting; femininity, freedom, choice and inner style. I never want my illustrations to objectify a person but rather to empower and inspire by creating a synthesis of style and character which accentuates both of them in a person.

The reason I want to portray style as a timeless phenomenon is most likely due to women in my family and my upbringing. I believe that the women of my family, especially my mother, made me realise it is always style that is the ultimate goal and not fashion itself and that this is a goal worth pursuing.

I have always been fascinated and inspired by fashion throughout history and regard many portrayals and historical fashion pieces as art. Fashion illustrations present for me an inexhaustible source of imagination, colour combinations and styles and this page was created to see where all my inspiration and ideas will take me...
